MoMA and Nike are teaming up again for Fall 2026, this time on a two-pair pack of the Air Rift 2. The split-toe runner, a Nike design that dates back to the '90s, gets two sharply different treatments here, each leaning into bright color rather than restraint.
The two pairs sit at opposite ends of the palette. The first comes covered mostly in green, with pink threaded through the smaller details and yellow adding a third hit of color. The second starts from a black upper and works in neon yellow and light blue accents, with small pink Swooshes slipping one more color into the mix without overwhelming the base. It is a study in contrast across the pack, one pair loud and saturated, the other darker with pops that punctuate rather than dominate.
Where the collaboration signs its name is in the details. MoMA branding turns up on the lace panels and insoles of both pairs, while the rest of the shoe holds to the Air Rift's familiar shape and setup. That light touch is the point: rather than reengineering the silhouette, the pack treats the split-toe runner as a canvas, letting color and co-branding do the work on an otherwise unchanged base.
That approach fits the logic of a MoMA collaboration, where an everyday object gets reframed through a design lens. Reworking a '90s Nike runner into two vivid, gallery-ready colorways positions the Air Rift 2 less as a straightforward retro and more as a wearable design object, which is squarely the territory a museum tie-up is built to occupy.
