De Beers Highlights Significance of Natural Diamonds in Cultural Program

De Beers will partner with international events Homo Faber and Frieze Masters as part of its autumn program celebrating nature, creativity and craftmanship.

The collaboration follows De Beers’ publication, together with Assouline, of the book A Diamond Is Forever: The Making of a Cultural Icon. It also comes as the company prepares to mark the 80th anniversary of the “A Diamond Is Forever” campaign in 2027, it said last week. The initiatives will highlight the enduring role of natural diamonds in inspiring artists, artisans and creatives, and connecting their work with new audiences, the miner added.

“Through our autumn cultural program, we are exploring the profound connection between nature’s creation and human craftsmanship,” said Lynn Serfarty, De Beers’ general manager for natural diamonds. “These partnerships allow us to tell a broader cultural story about natural diamonds and the singular place they have held throughout human history and culture.”

Taking place in Venice, Italy, throughout September under the artistic direction of Es Devlin, Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light will explore the relationship between light, materials and creativity. At the upcoming edition of the biennial, De Beers will feature Southern African creative traditions through two initiatives supporting several artists.

Meanwhile, Frieze Masters 2026 is scheduled for October 14 to 18 in London, with De Beers returning to the annual fair for a second time. This year, the miner will showcase Voyage Through the Diamond Realm, Chapter II: On the Birth of a Diamond, an immersive installation tracing the journey of natural diamonds from deep within the earth to human culture.
