SteelSeries has grown its Arctis GameBuds lineup with two new finishes, Matcha and Yuzu, but the more consequential news for existing owners is what is happening under the hood. Alongside the fresh colors, the earbuds carry an updated 2026 firmware package aimed at squeezing more stability out of their wireless connection.

The core of the GameBuds proposition is low-latency wireless across the console spectrum. The earbuds run on a 2.4 GHz connection tuned for ultra-low latency on Xbox and PS5, while spanning Nintendo Switch and PC as well, so the same set carries over from a gaming session to music, video or calls without a hardware swap. SteelSeries positions them as a single audio solution for high-quality sound across every platform a player might jump between, backed by all-day battery life.

The update delivers increased power for a more rock-solid connection and introduces listen-before-talk (LBT), a channel-selection method that scans for a clear frequency before transmitting to sidestep wireless interference. In practice, that means the buds can route around congestion in busy signal environments rather than fighting through it. Importantly, the update is not limited to the new Matcha and Yuzu units; SteelSeries is rolling it out across all GameBuds models, so the connectivity gains reach the existing install base too.

The accessory half of the Cozy Collection comes from KontrolFreek, the SteelSeries sister brand behind Performance Gaming Gear. Its No-Slip Performance Thumb Grips arrive in the same Matcha and Yuzu tones to pair with the buds, and on the functional side they are engineered to add grip, comfort and control at the stick. The grips carry a universal fit across Xbox, PlayStation and Switch Pro controllers, keeping them compatible with the same console range the GameBuds cover.
