Based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Noir, the series was adapted for television by co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, alongside executive producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Set in Great Depression-era New York, the plot followed Cage as a down-on-his-luck private investigator forced to grapple with his past life as a superhero. The ensemble cast also featured Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson.
Spider-Noir served as the debut project under Amazon’s development deal with Sony Pictures Television to adapt characters from the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. Premiering on May 25, the series accumulated 2.6 billion viewing minutes in its first six weeks alongside a 92% Rotten Tomatoes rating and 11 Emmy nominations before being canceled.
