2026 UTMB Mont-Blanc Live Race Updates and Results

Friends, the greatest night and day (plus another night and another day) in trail running is finally here: Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) has commenced.

After a two hour delay due to storms, just under 2,000 runners took off under tempestuous skies in downtown Chamonix, France, at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, August 28. Their quest: Cover 172K (108 miles) with 33,000 feet of climbing and descent—the equivalent of summiting Mount Everest from sea level—around the Mount Blanc massif to end back up where they began.

The start line atmosphere, which is always electric, was off the hook this year. Rain clouds parted just in time as the top men in CCC, the 100K championship, finished in the minutes before UTMB began. Italy’s Cristian Minoggio threw down a masterclass performance to take the win at age 42. Hans “the Destroyer” Troyer hung tough after leading for much of the race to put the U.S. on the podium in third.

Will Courtney Dauwalter win for a fourth time? Can 2024 champ Vincent Bouillard back up his course-record win at Western States earlier this summer?
