Melitta Baumeister has officially unveiled her latest footwear collaboration with Nike, debuting the Nike Rift Rocker, at Seoul Art Week. Following up on her distinct spins on the Nike Vomero Premium and Nike Pegasus Premium, the NYC designer is now bringing her signature surreal, amorphous aesthetic to the beloved tabi-toe sneaker.
Designed to turn heads, the NikeRift Rocker demands immediate attention with its heavily modified, extra-chunky rocker soles, complete with a debossed Nike Swoosh. On the uppers, the silhouette sports a crackled finish that introduces a raw, tactile texture to the split-toe classic.
True to Baumeister’s whimsical and avant-garde approach to garment design, the sneaker design is rounded off with a playful pair of eyes staring out directly from the back heels. Further, Melitta Baumeister branding is also emblazoned on the Velcro strap, while both the heel strap and midsole boast cursive Nike wordmarks.
The physical debut is anchored by a special NIKELAB SEOUL installation taking place on September 5 and 6, giving attendees a first-hand look at the designer's latest conceptual footwear drop.
As of the time of writing, an official release date for the Melitta Baumeister x Nike Rift Rocker hasn’t been announced, so stay tuned to Hypebeast for further updates.
